Chinese Designers Build 5-Ton Transformers Megatron Tank from Scrap Metal

It’s one thing to be a fan of the Transformers movies, but it’s a whole different story to recreate the blockbusters’ mega-machines, which is exactly what a Chinese metalwork factory has done. Wing Wah, a factory run by designers Jiang Chen and Yang Junlin, has become known for its “Legend of Iron” project, a series of large scale metal sculptures. Most recently, the duo recreated the Megatron Tank from Transformers 2. Made mostly of scrap metal, the tank measures 4.5 x 3.2 x 2.5 meters, weighs five tons, and looks exactly like the movie’s machine.

Incredible Ice Castles Grown by a Minnesota Man Using Geothermal Heating System

Winters in Minnesota are cold and the best way to get through the bone-chilling season is to have fun with it, just like Roger Hanson does. For the last four years the ice builder has been growing ice castles in his front yard with the help of his geothermal heating system, some fancy sprayers and a computer program he created himself. Each year the crystalline castles at Hanson's Winter Water Wonder are getting bigger and bigger with more intricate rigging systems and more complicated programming.

Artist Cal Lane Transforms Industrial Objects into Intricate Lace Sculptures

 

Using her trusty blowtorch, artist and welder Cal Lane burns delicate lace-like patterns into reclaimed steel objects. She says she thinks of the original materials - such as shovels, manhole covers, dumpsters, wheelbarrows and i-beams - as “male” because of their industrial nature. Lane enjoys pushing the dichotomy of feminine and masculine by combining patterns of domesticity with these cold, harsh symbols of masculine blue collar labor.

Remember the three “R”s? Shara Porter can do you one better: reprint. The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth grad, who plies her trade in “hand-printed fine found objects,” retools vintage leather bags and accessories with a quick mend and a hand-stamped illustration. Porter’s world is full of adorable characters and objects placed in the most unexpected ways, resulting in a menagerie of hedgehog wallets, birdcage purses, bumblebee clutches, and “brontosaurus” card holders.

Amazing Artwork Made by Insects!

Believe it or not, this artwork is actually made from the movement of tiny insects! Straight from Eindhoven comes Debugged, Big Apple Bugs and Vernissage – a new exhibit from the enterprising experimental design team Edhv. ‘Art by Insects’ is a fascinating series based on a vision of organic and reactive identities. By using an experimental technology tracking software to map the movement patterns of various species of insects, Edhv has created a whole new medium of artwork that comes from life.

Greno "The Dream"

The Dream is an amazing piece by the artist that goes by the name of Greno (first picture from the top, click to enlarge! ). There is so much for me to say about just this single piece, but after looking through all of his art, I found more important evidences to confirm that Greno really has something going on with his style (as far unique and captivating)

The Dream carries a lot of textures and tones of blue which makes me think of various finishes and weights of denim fabric. All the decorations and dotted touches are in the right places. The square and checkered details add a false sense of dimension but still keep it fun visually. Last but not least, I adore the contrast of all the colors focused in one hand, as if there was a transition ready-to-happen from blue tones- to a full mix of colors about to spread all over her body.

In conclusion... sometimes you need a dysfunctional and messy display in order to regroup and make sense of things. It brings a better focus to what's more interesting or important. Greco’s art presents a good combination of- somewhat messy visuals, incorporated inside a basic portrait drawing. But one can enjoy the more organized details or the less complicated, depending on your taste, but this is what makes it interesting and a joy to look at.
