New iPhone Virus Could Harm Jailbroken iPhones

>> Friday, November 13, 2009

It seems that there’s a new iPhone virus on the loose and this one is targeting jailbroken iPhones out there. The first one was almost a harmless worm which targeted jailbroken phones in Australia. The worm was programmed to scan the 3G IP ranges of Telus, Optus and Vodafone networks. As soon as those jailbroken iPhone were found the worm would change the wallpaper of the handset to Rick Asteley.

The worm we’re talking about today is based on the one we have just shown you. And you won’t like this second version worm. In fact you’re probably going to hate it as this worm, dubbed as “iPhone/Privacy.A” will send all your e-mail messages, SMS messages, calendar appointments, contacts, photos, music files, videos and any other data stored by your iPhone apps to a third party.

Of course in order for both worms to work your jailbroken has to have the default root password in place. Once you change that, you’re going to be safe for the time being.

AT&T to Launch Snapdragon-based Lenovo Smartbook?

AT&T is apparently going to launch a smartbook soon. The device is made by Lenovo and it’s going to sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. There are no specs available at this point as the smartbook in question has been showcased by CEO Paul Jacobs during an investor meeting in New York. Neither Lenovo nor AT&T cared to comment on the device but we’re probably going to see the smartbook at CES 2010 in just under two months from now.

The question is do we really need smartbooks too? We have smartphones, there are plenty of netbooks to go around and let’s not forget that the tablets are coming. What do you say?

Sprint lowering Touch Pro2 price to $199 on October 1st

>> Thursday, October 1, 2009

Sprint has recently announced that they will be lowering the price of the HTC Touch Pro2 from $349 to a much more palatable $199.99 starting on October 1st.

This was most likely due to the fact that Verizon has had the Touch Pro2 at $199.99 for some time now. That and who is going to buy a Windows Mobile device for such a high price unless it’s the HTC Leo?

Verizon getting BlackBerry Storm 2 close to October 25th?

What you see above is a screen shot of Best Buy’s product inventory database listing for the BlackBerry Storm 2’s Verizon dummy unit.

At first glance, this may not seem like anything special but once you see that Best Buy is going to stock the unit on October 25th leads us to believe that the actual fully functioning handset will be made available for purchase sometime soon after the 25th.

On another note, BGR has also apparently been told that the Storm 2 will be priced at $599 with no contract. Potential buyers fret not as once the carrier subsidization is factored in, it’s sure to be a lot lower.

We have no more details at this point in time but in Verizon we trust to launch the phone already!

BlackBerry Atlas Is Just a Curve 8900 in CDMA Clothing

We told you a long time ago that RIM was going to launch a certain BlackBerry called Atlas. Unfortunately for anyone anxious to see a brand new BlackBerry phone the Atlas is not new at all. The Atlas is just a Curve 8900 that’s able to make and receive calls in a CDMA network. The phone has leaked already but that doesn’t necessarily mean that RIM will launch it really soon. So check the picture on your left and spot the differences. Which one do you think the Atlas is? The one on the left or the one on the left?

iPhone Dropped Calls in New York? About 30% but Perfectly Normal

So how’s your iPhone working folks? Is AT&T still as crappy in your area as in the New York area? We don’t mean to be disrespectful but it looks like the average iPhone dropped calls is somewhere around 30% in New York. And that appears to be a genuine number provided by one of Apple’s own Geniuses. And said percentage seems to be fairly normal in Apple’s eyes. In fact it looks like people seem to think there’s something wrong with their iPhone when in fact the problem lies with AT&T. Go have your phone checked by the nice folks at the Genius Bar and you’ll find out exactly how many dropped calls you’ve had. Hopefully not more than 30% which is about 1 in 3 calls. What say you AT&T? Ready for to further upgrade the network?

Microsoft’s Courier Tablet Appears Again; This Time It’s Running Windows 7

It looks like Microsoft is willing to leak as much info as possible about its future tablet. The Courier has been spotted again and it looks like the hot tablet is running Windows 7. We were certainly waiting for the Courier to run Windows 7. It’s not like Redmond has more OS ready to power up a tablet computer.

Microsoft is responsible for designing its own hardware just as it did with the Zune HD and the Xbox 360. The Courier will hit resellers sometime in mid 2010 which is probably when Apple’s future tablet will also be available in stores. Remember though that this is all based on speculation, rumors and leaked information. Microsoft will not comment on anything yet which is a clever move in order to keep us buzzing about the tablet.

Microsoft Courier Tablet Concept Gets Leaked

>> Sunday, September 27, 2009

Even the most faithful Apple fan should be interested in these renderings of the Microsoft Courier Tablet concept. The tablet has been leaked and it looks just great. At this point we’re curious to see what tablet is Apple going to launch but if what we see in these pictures here will come true then Cupertino should expect a fierce fight from Microsoft in this new tablet market.

Getting back to the Curier we can’t but notice the generous display made by two 7-inch hinged multitouch display. You can interact with the screens by using your fingers or a stylus and you can use both screens at once as the user interface permits various movements and actions from screen to screen. We don’t have all the specs but so far we know the Courier comes with a home button on the hinge, status LEDs on one side and an impressive 3 megapixel camera with flash and 4x digital zoom. Can Apple top all of that?
